Around the room
A kitchen that cooks and a bar that pours
Everything on your plate comes out of our kitchen, and every pint comes off our own lines. You get a seat by the fire, a menu that reads like the season and a beer list that does the same.
One email a week with what is cooking and what is pouring. No noise.

Booking with us
Tell us the date, the time and how many of you are coming. Friday and Saturday fill up first, so give us as much notice as you can.
Mention birthdays, dietary needs or a dog in the party, and we will set the room up to suit. Nothing is too much trouble if you say in advance.
We check the kitchen diary, come back with a yes, and hold the table under your name. Turn up hungry and we will do the rest.
We keep a few tables back for people passing by, but a booking is the only way to be certain. Call us or use the form and we will sort it.
Tell us what you need and we will check the kitchen diary. Pick the closest fit from the list below and we will take it from there.
A member of the family reads every message and replies in person.
What we offer
The menu changes with what the growers and the boats send us. Expect honest plates, proper portions and a few pub classics that never leave the board.
We keep eight keg lines pouring and swap them as they run out. Local brewers come first, and there is always a dark, a lager and something sour on.
Beef, pork and a nut roast, all with duck-fat potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy made from the same stock. Served until we sell out.
The side room seats forty and comes with its own bar and sound system. Birthdays, wakes and work dos all work well in there, any day of the week.
Once a month we run a guided tasting with a brewer and a set menu built around the beers. Six pours, four courses, one long table.
You can order the full menu to collect, and take any of our beers home in a growler or a sealed bottle. Ring ahead and we will have it ready.
What we skip
We do not cater weddings or any event off our own premises, so everything is cooked in the kitchen you can see.
Same-day bookings for more than ten people are hard to promise, because the kitchen orders in fresh that morning.
Stag and hen parties of more than fifteen are not something we can seat, as the room simply will not take it.
We do not hold a late licence, so last orders are called before eleven every night of the week.
Get in touch
Bookings, off-sales and beer tastings all come through the same door. Tell us what you need and we will point you the right way.
